Memorials of Distinction have over 35 years’ experience in stonemasonry and serving the picturesque area of Surrey, including Camberley, Wokingham and Guildford. Our expert team crafts elegant gravestones and will ensure you have just the right one for your departed loved one, whether it be a full kerbed memorial, cremation plaque or a bespoke headstone. We have a wide range of high-quality products available.
You or your loved one has chosen Surrey for their final resting place, but every cemetery is different and each has its own atmosphere, requirements and prices. When choosing a cemetery, you’ll have to visit and ask them directly about any specific rules before you choose a custom gravestone, traditional headstones or perhaps a memorial photoplaque.
Surrey is very close to London, making transport links easy for visiting friends and family, but it also has a country feel, with lots of green spaces and ancient woodland. In fact, Surrey is the most wooded county in England, so there are lots of tranquil places to go walking after visiting the cemetery or crematorium.
When you have lost a loved one, contacting crematoriums and cemeteries can feel overwhelming. To help you, we have put together an interactive map. All you have to do is hover over a pin to see the contact details — this saves you trawling the internet in search of a telephone number.
There are a number of things you may want to ask the crematorium or cemetery about, so write them down and have these to hand before you call. For example, whether you can purchase a family plot, what headstone styles are allowed and what size headstones are permitted.
There are so many special locations in Surrey — Woking Crematorium has a peaceful lake, Burvale Cemetery offers a traditional lawn and Randalls Park Crematorium has a multi-faith chapel. Take a look below.
Kerbs are a line of stone which forms a rectangular edge covering the whole grave. This is usually made from the same stone as the headstone but can be changed for a contrasting material if preferred. The centre area can be filled with coloured glass chippings, soil or a cover slab according to your taste.
Aside from grave ornaments, you can also use different types of decorations to personalise a memorial. Fresh or artificial flowers are a common choice, allowing you to bring colour and beauty to the site. Candles or solar lights can provide a soft, comforting glow. Personal touches like engraved stones, photo plaques, or even wind chimes can also add a special, unique element to the memorial. Each decoration should reflect the memory and personality of the individual, creating a lasting tribute that feels personal and meaningful.
Cemetery or Crematoria fees are not a standard price but if you tell us the grave location details we will be able to find out for you. Alternatively the cemetery would be able to give you the information directly if you prefer to call them yourself.
Once you have placed an order, the process of obtaining a permit is carried out by us on your behalf and is generally straightforward.
